On July 9, 2026, Six Feet Under and Kataklysm take over Lee’s Palace in Toronto for a co-headlining show that blends death metal history with modern firepower.
Formed in Tampa’s early-’90s crucible, Six Feet Under relies on a often mid-tempo pulse, heavy, repetitive riffs and Chris Barnes’s distinctive growl. On stage the band is straightforward and relentless, driven by a pronounced groove and lyrics steeped in horror imagery. Their set weaves early cuts like “Haunted,” “Warpath” and “Maximum Violence” with newer material such as “Undead,” “Torment” and “Nightmares of the Decomposed,” delivered in a tight, no-frills manner.
Also born in Montreal around the same time, Kataklysm began with an ultra-fast brand of death metal often dubbed the “northern hyperblast,” before refining a more melodic, structured approach to songwriting. Live, the four-piece alternates bursts of speed with syncopated grooves, rapid riffs with accessible choruses, while retaining a deep, growled vocal. Tracks from Shadows & Dust, Serenity in Fire, Meditations, Unconquered and Goliath chart that evolution—balancing velocity, tension and dark atmospheres—for a compact, uncompromising set.
