Info
On May 29, 2026, Matthew Good and I Mother Earth share the stage at The Arena in Pickering. A steady presence in Canadian alternative rock since the early 1990s, Matthew Good first came to attention with the Matthew Good Band and albums like Last of the Ghetto Astronauts, Underdogs and Beautiful Midnight. His solo work has kept songwriting at the center, from Avalanche to Moving Walls, with themes that move between social questions and intimate reflections. Live, his sets draw on clear vocals, melodic guitars and arrangements that balance tension and atmosphere.
Formed in Toronto by brothers Jagori and Christian Tanna, I Mother Earth builds on rhythm and long-form grooves, blending alternative rock with funk touches and a psychedelic streak. The band released Dig in 1993 and Scenery and Fish in 1996, before shifting with singer Brian Byrne on Blue Green Orange and The Quicksilver Meat Dream toward a sound that’s denser and more exploratory. On stage, expect thick guitars, layered percussion and room for expansive instrumentals.
Side by side, these two approaches to 90s-born rock line up for an evening that moves from narrative-driven songs to percussive momentum at The Arena, 888 Durham Live Avenue, Pickering, Canada.
