On 15 April 2026 Anohni will take the stage at the Royal Theatre Carré in Amsterdam with Wilderness, a concert that brings her work in all its forms to the stage. Once known as the frontwoman of Antony and the Johnsons, she built from the 2000s onward a universe of intimate ballads and chamber-pop, with albums such as I Am a Bird Now and Swanlights. She later shifted her focus to more electronic and rhythm-driven landscapes on Hopelessness and the EP Paradise, where lyrics and production confront themes such as gender, ecology, control and contemporary violence head-on, without losing the vulnerable undercurrent. Recently, My Back Was a Bridge for You to Cross returned the focus to a more organic, spare sound, nourished by soul and slow-burning rock.
Live, Anohni places those trajectories side by side: her voice remains the centrepiece, supported by austere arrangements or synthetic layers that build tension without overwhelming. Wilderness does not promise a nostalgic look back, but a journey through songs that continually move between intimacy and direct, confrontational engagement. Carré will be the setting for an evening where songwriting, performance and electronic sensibility touch and intersect.
