Joe Jackson

On 29 November 2026 Joe Jackson will appear at SPOT/De Oosterpoort, Groningen. The British songwriter and pianist has carved out his own path since the late 1970s, moving from the taut energy of Look Sharp! and I’m the Man to the more urbane tones of Night and Day, with Steppin’ Out as a lasting milestone. In the decades since, he has moved effortlessly between pop, rock and new wave, while also exploring orchestral and more cinematic compositions, without relinquishing his sense of melody and rhythm.

Live, Jackson is all about songs and playing: compact, lucid, with the piano as the driving force. He draws on more than forty years of work — from Body and Soul and Big World to Will Power, Blaze of Glory and Laughter & Lust — and just as readily mines material from Volume 4, Rain, Fast Forward and Fool. His recent phase is represented as well, with What a Racket! as a fresh chapter. Expect no nostalgia act, but a set that links older repertoire with newer work, where sharp lyrics and tight hooks sit alongside subtler arrangements. An evening with a musician who likes to change gears while retaining his own distinctive signature.
