Wibi Soerjadi

On 12 July 2026 pianist Wibi Soerjadi will give a garden concert at Villa Peckedam in Diepenheim. Trained at Dutch conservatories and coming from an Indonesian-Dutch family, he has built a career since the late 1980s centered on the Romantic piano repertoire. In his recitals Liszt, Chopin, Rachmaninoff and Schumann often reappear, alongside his own compositions and solo transcriptions of orchestral themes for piano. In this way he links virtuoso pieces with shorter, more restrained works, with attention to form and sonority.

Known as a concerto soloist, Soerjadi opts in this setting for the direct engagement of the recital format. Expect a programme in which the lyricism of the 19th century sits alongside more recent works, allowing room for colour, timing and transparency. His studio and live recordings reflect that mix and inform the selection of pieces that come into their own outdoors. In the garden of Villa Peckedam his interpretation of the Romantic idiom can be heard up close, complemented by his own numbers and careful transcriptions.
