Joe Bonamassa

Joe Bonamassa is coming to Rotterdam Ahoy in Rotterdam on April 24, 2026. The American guitarist and singer grew up in blues rock: at twelve he was already standing beside B.B. King; later came Bloodline and in 2000 his solo debut A New Day Yesterday. Since then he has steadily built a catalogue of studio and live records, from Blues Deluxe and The Ballad of John Henry to Different Shades of Blue, Blues of Desperation and Royal Tea.

On stage Bonamassa seamlessly blends his influences: British blues as a foundation, a splash of seventies hard rock, with soul and folk at the margins. Songs are given room to breathe, with dense riffs that unfold into longer instrumental passages and strong attention to tone and dynamics. He plays with a band, so the grooves land solidly and there is space for color from keyboards and, when appropriate, horns.

Between his own material he regularly offers nods to his heroes, something you also recognise from his side projects, from Black Country Communion to his collaborations with Beth Hart. At Ahoy his career comes together in a set that presents his blues rock up close — direct and unfiltered.
