Info
On 13 March 2026, Gare Du Nord will perform at the Melkweg in Amsterdam. The project, launched in the early 2000s by Barend Fransen and Ferdi Lancee, builds its sound on slow grooves, soul- and blues-tinged accents and jazzy harmonies that evoke cinematic atmospheres. From the debut In Search of Excellounge (2001) to albums such as Sex ’n’ Jazz (2007) and Love for Lunch (2009), the sound moved toward warmer songs with a larger role for the voice, with Dorona Alberti as a recurring frontwoman.
Live, Gare Du Nord has grown from a studio project into a flexible band. On stage the set moves effortlessly between nu-jazz, lounge and subtle funk, with gentle electronics and a feel that calls to mind imaginary soundtracks. Instrumental pieces and vocal tracks layer upon layer, leaving room for dynamics and detail. Expect an evening that turns slowly through their catalogue: grooves that pulse gently, melodies that unfold gradually, and arrangements that hold tension without forcing it. In this way Gare Du Nord shapes a concert that is as much about atmosphere as it is about songs.
