Accessory is the solo project of Chicago songwriter and multi-disciplinary artist Jason Balla. On stage, Balla balances optimism and melancholy without smoothing either edge, letting both carry equal weight. The set moves between close, acoustic moments and electronic mutation: fingerpicked guitars and unadorned vocals fold into synth grit, sampled breath, and rhythms that twitch and blur. Melodic lines repeat, bend and collide, mirroring the friction between the natural and the digital that runs through the project. What starts as a bare sketch can tilt into a charged, textural drift, then settle back into something tender and precise. Through this push and pull, Accessory looks at how these worlds shape the way we relate to one another, keeping the human voice at the center. Accessory comes to Monarch Tavern in Toronto on May 1, 2026, for a night that traces those tensions in real time.
