Info
On April 10, 2026 at The Broom Factory in Kingston, Ontario, Haley Heynderickx and Max García Conover bring their second collaborative project to the stage. Writing from opposite corners of the US, they traded songs for a year with Woody Guthrie’s words in mind, mapping a patchwork of American stories and where theirs fit. She, half-Filipina, he, half-Puerto Rican, shaped a set that looks at the legacy of colonialism, generational identity, and the pull of commercialism, while grappling with how to sing about social equity without slogans.
Tracked live to tape over five days in a Vermont barn, these songs lean on guitars, voices, and bits of found percussion. Heynderickx’s precise, delicate phrasing meets García Conover’s angular, image-rich poetics; together they favor close dynamics, quiet tension, and melodies that leave room for breath. On stage, expect a stripped, durable chemistry: fingerpicked patterns, unvarnished harmonies, and stories carried with a mix of spontaneity and resolve, in the spirit of Guthrie but anchored in their own present.
