Chris Brokaw, guitarist and songwriter known from Codeine and Come, brings his new chapter Ghost Ship to Hafenklang in Hamburg on 25 March 2026. The pieces are conceived as a continuous journey: voice and electric guitar trace horizons, distances and echoes, sometimes rough, sometimes calmly shimmering. Written on a 1960s Teisco Del Rey and set up by Flip Scipio with heavy flatwounds and a .80 E-string tuned low to A, this setup noticeably alters the playing — deeper pull, lots of space, precise gestures.
Live, the articulate chords of "8 Or 9 Things" meet the sharply descending finale of "Profile" and the eruption of "Anything Anymore." Brokaw focuses on texture and a sense of time: sounds that probe spaces, pauses that breathe, melodies that drift in and out. Since 2002 he has released more than two dozen solo albums, composed film music and worked with artists such as Thurston Moore, Christina Rosenvinge and Rhys Chatham — experiences that converge in the approach of his new set.
Also joining is Scout Gillett. Ensemble size open, focus clear: Ghost Ship presented in an immediate, intimate way.
