Info
On June 28, 2026, at Théâtre Maisonneuve in Montréal, Dominique Fils-Aimé presents a set centered on her velvety voice and songwriting that ties together soul, contemporary jazz, and African-American heritage. A Montrealer of Haitian origin, she has carved out since the mid-2010s a singular path where intimate formats and more orchestrated arrangements intersect, always guided by a focus on vocal rhythm and harmonies.
Her debut album, Nameless (2018), launched a trilogy that examines the history and memory of Afro-descendant communities, continued with Stay Tuned! (2019) and Three Little Words (2021). With Our Roots Run Deep (2023), she approaches notions of lineage and rootedness in a more introspective manner.
On stage, the arrangements emphasize backing vocals, vocal pulse and space, producing pared-down songs in which the groove can breathe. Between minimalist soul, R&B influences and echoes of spirituals, Dominique Fils-Aimé unfolds a repertoire that plays on nuance and texture, supported by a tight ensemble dedicated to the songs and their dynamics.
