Info
Thievery Corporation brings its Washington, D.C.–born downtempo fusion to Théâtre Beanfield in Montréal on March 21, 2026. Founded by producers Rob Garza and Eric Hilton in the mid‑1990s, the project fuses trip‑hop, dub, bossa nova, reggae, jazz and Middle Eastern motifs into warm, rolling rhythms. From the sample‑rich atmospheres of Sounds from the Thievery Hi‑Fi and The Mirror Conspiracy to the broader textures of The Richest Man in Babylon, their catalogue maintains a steady dialogue with global sounds and a taste for cinematic ambience. Later entries broaden the palette: The Cosmic Game and Radio Retaliation explore Latin and Indian inflections, Saudade leans into bossa’s softer sway, and The Temple of I & I maps connections with Jamaican culture.
On stage, Thievery Corporation operates as a flexible collective rather than a fixed duo. Vocalists and instrumentalists rotate, moving between dub pulses, bossa cadences and slow‑burn grooves, all anchored by bass and percussion. The set unfolds like a mixtape, multilingual voices layered over textured beats, shifting from lounge‑tinged calm to dancefloor‑ready energy without breaking the flow.
