Info

William Prince brings his Further From the Country Tour to the Royal Theatre in Victoria on March 4, 2026. The Winnipeg-based singer-songwriter leans into sparse folk and country shaded by gospel, a setting that puts his low, steady voice and plainspoken storytelling upfront. Raised in Manitoba and a member of Peguis First Nation, he threads family, loss, faith and belonging through songs first outlined on Earthly Days (2015), then Reliever and Gospel First Nation (2020), and more recently Stand in the Joy (2023). On stage he keeps the frame intimate, solo or in a tight ensemble, letting the narratives and harmonies breathe while keeping a clear line back to his prairie roots. Ballads and mid-tempo pieces move with unhurried pacing, carried by acoustic guitar and a warm, unadorned delivery.

Sharing the bill, Boy Golden extends the Manitoba link with a blend of country, folk rock and americana edged with a light psych hue. Since Church of Better Daze (2021) and For Jimmy (2023), his writing has settled into close harmonies, guitar-and-keys arrangements and a feel that favors warmth over flash. He plays with understated humor and a soft melancholy, turning small scenes, road stories and makeshift communities into songs that travel easy. Live, he shifts between full-band textures and stripped-back flow, shaping the set to the room without overloading it. The pairing draws a line between gospel-tinged folk and modern alt-country, two perspectives that meet naturally on one stage.
