Info
Current Swell brings its West Coast blend of indie rock, folk, surf and roots to Bo’s Bar & Stage in Red Deer on February 28, 2026. Formed in Victoria, BC, the quartet of Scott Stanton, David Lang, Louis Sadava and Chris Petersen built its name on the road, from beach gigs to long tours across North America, Europe, Brazil and Australia. On stage, the band leans into close harmonies, acoustic textures and laid-back grooves that slip into blues and light reggae, then return to tighter electric riffs. The set draws a line from early releases like So I Say, Trust Us Now and Protect Your Own to the punch of Long Time Ago and Ulysses, and the broader tones of When to Talk and When to Listen and Buffalo. Themes of travel, ocean pull and everyday life anchor songs shaped for a live room where melodies lead and rhythm carries the crowd.
Special guest Jay Malinowski opens. Known for Bedouin Soundclash and his solo work, he brings a songwriter’s touch steeped in reggae-tinged folk and intimate storytelling, setting the tone before Current Swell takes over.
