On June 14, 2026 at The Palace Theatre in Calgary, Napalm Death headline a night of extreme music. Formed in 1981 in Meriden, England, they helped shape grindcore, welding blast-beat velocity to death metal and punk. The 1.3-second track You Suffer and the debut Scum (1987) set the tone early; since the early 90s a steady core has driven music that stays fast, abrasive and socially minded.
Primitive Man, from Denver, slow everything to a crawl. Their doom/sludge sound folds in death/black shades, harsh noise and cavernous vocals. Records like Scorn, Caustic and Immersion chart that approach: glacial tempos, thick distortion and stretches of feedback that raise the tension on stage.
Calgary’s Dying Remains represent the local death metal front, a homegrown presence on the bill.
Alberta’s Culled play sludge/doom-encrusted grind, mixing abrasive textures, lurching weight and sudden surges to round out the lineup.
