Info
The Black Angels bring the Passover 2026 Tour to The Concert Hall in Toronto on May 25, 2026. Formed in Austin in 2004, the band shapes a dark, hypnotic strain of psych rock fed by garage grit and 60s echoes. Built around Alex Maas (vocals, bass) and Christian Bland (guitar), their sound leans on saturated guitars, misty keys and heavy, circular grooves. From Passover (2006) through Directions to See a Ghost, Phosphene Dream, Indigo Meadow, Death Song and Wilderness of Mirrors, the writing plays with repetition, textures and tempo shifts, while lyrics trace war, political paranoia and the unease of the present. Close to Austin’s psych scene and the festival that became Levitation, the group has also backed Roky Erickson on stage. On this tour, the set pushes that droning tension and thick atmospheres across their catalog.
L.A. Witch opens with a reverb-drenched blend of garage, psych and slow-burn punk. The Los Angeles trio — Sade Sanchez (vocals, guitar), Irita Pai (bass) and Ellie English (drums) — moves on minimalist riffs, deadpan vocals and nocturnal moods. After early singles, a self-titled debut in 2017 and Play With Fire in 2020 tightened the contrast between quick jolts and slower, heavier tracks, followed by the 2021 EP Octubre. On stage, the pulse rests on repetition and echo, carving a stark lead-in to the headliners’ haze.
