Formed in Winnipeg at the end of the 1980s before settling in Toronto, the band first built its name on clubs and campus circuits, then on a run of albums that shaped a clear, text‑driven sound: McLaren Furnace Room (1992) and In The Trees (1994) set the tone; Brand New Day (1996) pushed the writing into darker corners; Silent Radar (1998) folded in broader textures and a tighter rhythmic pulse; Slomotion (2001) opened space for studio experiments and remixes while keeping the guitars upfront. Tracks like All Uncovered and Stereo anchored them across Canada, carried by extensive touring from coast to coast.
