Umi - People Stories World Tour

UMI brings her People Stories World Tour to the Säälchen in Berlin on April 29, 2026. The Seattle-born singer-songwriter of Afro-Japanese heritage began sharing original songs and covers online, later moved to Los Angeles and refined a sound that sits between R&B, neo-soul and pared-back pop—often described as bedroom pop. Her lyrics shift between English and Japanese and address themes such as identity, spirituality, relationships and mental health.

After early projects she released the EPs Love Affair (2017), Interlude (2018) and Love Language (2019), followed by Introspection (2020) and Introspection Reimagined (2021). With her debut album Forest in the City (2022) UMI broadened her approach, blending alternative R&B, contemporary soul elements and acoustic nuances.

On stage UMI favors a calm, melodic approach with warm harmonies and clear arrangements. Her set ranges from intimate ballads to gently driving grooves and leaves space for bilingual moments. Stories and moods take center stage, told up close and delivered directly—an evening that makes audible her development from early bedroom sketches to mature songwriting.
