Info
On June 4, 2026, Dionne Warwick will appear at the Metropol Theater Bremen, accompanied by the Philharmonie Nordwest. Raised in East Orange, New Jersey, she began in gospel music with the Gospelaires, became a studio singer in New York, and early on met Burt Bacharach and Hal David. From this developed a repertoire of finely arranged pop, soul and R&B, marked by clear articulation and a calm, narrative phrasing.
With albums such as Presenting Dionne Warwick, Make Way for Dionne Warwick and the live album Dionne Warwick in Paris she helped define the 1960s, expanded her sound in the 1970s and, from 1979 at Arista, opened a new chapter — including the albums Dionne and later Heartbreaker, produced by Barry Gibb. Alongside studio work she has engaged in cross‑generational collaborations and projects such as the charity single That’s What Friends Are For.
In Bremen she brings her songbook into full orchestral dress: songs and ballads in expansive arrangements that make audible the connection between her gospel roots and mature soul‑pop. The evening focuses on the essence of her music, carried by the sound of the Philharmonie Nordwest.
