Info
Scala & Kolacny Brothers will bring their women’s choir to the Stadthalle Cloppenburg on 18 April 2026. Founded in 1996 in Aarschot, Belgium, the choir is conducted by Stijn Kolacny, while his brother Steven is responsible for the arrangements and piano. Their approach: to strip rock, pop and indie songs of their band arrangements and rework them for multi-part female voices and piano. The result is intimate, often slightly melancholic versions at a moderate tempo that bring text and melody to the fore.
The repertoire includes songs by Radiohead, Nirvana, Depeche Mode and U2; predominantly in English, occasionally in French or German. The project attracted international attention when their rendition of Radiohead’s “Creep” was used in the trailer for The Social Network in 2010 — the catalyst for tours across Europe and North America.
Live in Cloppenburg, precise choral work meets spare accompaniment: not a heavy band sound, but space for detail, breath and reverb. The albums On the Rocks (2002), Dream On (2004) and It All Leads to This (2006) mark this approach and provide the framework for an evening that balances pop culture and choral sound.
