Patson « Baltazar »

Patson returns with Baltazar, a direct, no-holds-barred stand-up in which he delivers his unfiltered patter and keen sense of rhythm. Born in Côte d’Ivoire and first introduced to the wider public in 2006 on the Jamel Comedy Club, he has since honed his material both on stage and on radio, with a highly oral style nourished by urban culture and diasporas. His playground is the observation of everyday life and frank angles on what connects and unsettles between Africa, the Antilles and France. He strings jokes together, teases the audience and improvises when needed — all accompanied by the footwork and little gimmicks that have become his signature, a nod to his “Yes papa” of yesterday as well as to his flow today.

In Baltazar, Patson favors direct contact and addressing the audience, an energy that feels very American but is rooted in the here and now. Without posturing, he keeps it simple: stories, punchlines, callbacks, and a way of passing the word so the room responds. People come for the immediacy; they stay for the attention to detail and the musicality of the words.
