The Musical Box: « ...and then there was...Phil »

The Musical Box brings its Genesis project to Toronto with “…and then there was…PHIL” at Danforth Music Hall, 147 Danforth Avenue, Toronto, on January 30, 2027. Formed in Montreal in the early 90s, the band is devoted to the Genesis repertoire of the early 70s and the moment when Phil Collins stepped to the front. They approach it like documentary theatre: reconstructing historic tours from archives, reviving the running order, staging, slides, lighting and costumes to let the music sit in its original frame.

Recognized by former members of Genesis, The Musical Box has secured permissions to use the music along with select period visuals and scenic elements, which anchors their shows in detail without turning them into museum pieces. For this program, the focus shifts from the Peter Gabriel era into A Trick of the Tail and the first tours with Collins on vocals, where the group’s progressive and symphonic writing stayed sharp while the stagecraft evolved.

All ages are welcome for a concert built around long-form pieces, instrumental passages and that theatrical feel, played live in a room that suits it.
