The Wood Brothers

The Wood Brothers bring their blend of folk, blues, country and a touch of gospel to Vancouver. Formed by brothers Oliver and Chris Wood and completed onstage by multi-instrumentalist Jano Rix, the trio leans on tight vocal harmonies, Oliver’s slide guitar, Chris’s upright bass and Rix’s percussive touch. Raised in Boulder before taking separate paths — Chris with the jazz-groove outfit Medeski Martin & Wood in New York, Oliver in Atlanta’s blues and roots scene with King Johnson and as guitarist for Tinsley Ellis — they reunited in the mid-2000s and shaped a sound that shifts from hushed ballads to earthy grooves.

From Ways Not to Lose to The Muse, One Drop of Truth and Heart Is The Hero, their catalog moves between intimate storytelling and rhythmic drive. The Wood Brothers play with guests at Hollywood Theatre in Vancouver on May 10, 2026. The band also partners with American Friends of Canadian Conservation in support of The Nature Trust of British Columbia.
