Groove Catchers Extended & Pierre and the Stompers

Info

On March 6, 2026 at La Petite Halle de la Villette, Pierre & The Stompers will take over an evening shared with Groove Catchers Extended. A project conceived for the stage, the saxophone blends with effect pedals and machines for a set where improvisation meets club energy.

Under this name, Pierre Lapprand moves between Berlin-inspired minimal techno, trap, world music, psytrance, hardtek and dub. Electronic textures open up to sharp sax lines, repeating motifs and rises that establish a collective trance, balancing tension and suppleness.

A saxophonist trained in the Jazz department of the CNSMDP, Pierre Lapprand also explores the rougher edges of modern jazz with CHRONES and digs into improvised techno as part of the duo AB_SYNTH. He has appeared alongside bassist Kinga Glyk and the Afrobeat band Angelo Maria on stages such as Jazz à Vienne, Jazz in Marciac and Jazz à la Villette. He has opened for Herbie Hancock, Avishai Cohen, Gerald Clayton, Ben Wendel and Marcus Miller — milestones that sketch out the hybrid DNA of Pierre & The Stompers.
