Formed in Toronto in the mid‑90s, the trio has built a straight-ahead hard rock identity that pulls from punk urgency, garage grit and a bluesy undertow. Fronted by singer-guitarist Danko Jones with long-time bassist John Calabrese, the band favors sharp riffs, quick tempos and tight songs that circle around desire, nightlife and messy relationships. From early full-lengths like Born a Lion, We Sweat Blood and Sleep Is the Enemy through Never Too Loud, Below the Belt and Rock and Roll Is Black and Blue, the group has kept a steady pace on record and on the road. More recent releases — Fire Music, Wild Cat, A Rock Supreme, Power Trio and Electric Sounds — push the same lean, stage-ready approach that shaped their reputation across North America and Europe.
