Info

Cake bring their unmistakable blend of alternative rock, country edges, funk pulse and indie pop economy to Toronto. Formed in Sacramento in the early 1990s, the band built a lean, minimal sound around John McCrea’s talk-sung vocals, the melodic trumpet of Vince DiFiore, prominent bass lines and dry, clipped rhythms. Repetitive motifs, strummed acoustics and concise hooks keep the songs direct, while lyrics lean into everyday scenes and sly cultural asides.

Across albums like Motorcade of Generosity, Fashion Nugget, Prolonging the Magic, Comfort Eagle, Pressure Chief and Showroom of Compassion, Cake have favored clear structures and mid-tempo grooves over flashy solos. On stage, this approach delivers steady momentum, straight-faced humor and the occasional cover woven into a set of sharp, memorable tunes.

Cake play RBC Amphitheatre, 909 Lake Shore Boulevard West, Toronto, Canada, on 29 May 2026.
