Info
Salebarbes is once again setting down its suitcases at the Théâtre Capitole in Quebec City on February 11, 2027. Born from the meeting of Acadian singer-songwriters from New Brunswick and the Magdalen Islands, the collective builds a bridge between Acadia and Louisiana. On stage, voices alternate, choruses answer, and folk and Cajun rhythms mingle with country and rock impulses, while remaining faithful to direct, accessible song forms.
Éloi and Jonathan Painchaud, Kevin McIntyre, Georges Belliveau and Jean‑François Breau share the mic, the stories and the steering of the set. Their repertoire draws on their albums Live au Pas Perdus, Gin à l’eau salée and À boire deboutte, while revisiting pieces from the Francophone repertoire. Acadian speech, singalong choruses and a precise collective energy give these songs a common hue: to keep a culture alive and in motion, between memory and the present, with an intimacy of performance that emphasizes the voices and the rhythm.
