Australian songwriter and bassist Donny Benét lands in Vancouver with his blend of pop, disco, funk and italo-disco at Hollywood Theatre on March 22, 2026. Based in Sydney, he has shaped a singular 80s-tinged sound since Don’t Hold Back (2011), followed by Electric Love (2012) and the collaborative Weekend at Donny’s (2014). With The Don (2018), he sharpened melodic songwriting anchored in romantic narratives and a dry sense of humor, all led by front-and-center basslines and a warm baritone. Mr Experience (2020) pushed the soft rock and synth-pop contours, while the mostly instrumental Le Piano (2022) showed a more contemplative side.
On stage, Benét steers the room with tight grooves, velvety keys and hooks built for late-night sway. Expect a set that slides from slow-burn croons to dancefloor-friendly cuts, balancing lounge atmospheres and crisp, danceable arrangements. General admission, 19+.
