Puppetmastaz

Puppetmastaz, a German hip-hop collective led by puppets, will take over Rockstore Montpellier on March 27, 2026. Born from terrestrial and extraterrestrial creatures, the group presents itself as the first “toy band” and released Humans Get All the Credit in 2002. Since then the crew has collaborated with Chilly Gonzales, Le Peuple de l’Herbe, Modeselektor, Smokey Joe and the Kid, Mouse on Mars, Hippocampe Fou, Soom T and Schlachthof Bronx, and has put out tracks such as Puppetmad, Pet Sound, Bigger the Better, Mephistopheles, Take Me on a Ride and Purple Maple. On stage, their sets—mixing flow, beats and puppet theatre—have toured all over Europe, from Roskilde, Solidays, Festi’neuch, Dour, Sonar, Pukkelpop and Garorock to Lollapalooza and Fusion. With more than a thousand concerts under their belt and nine albums to date, their most recent, Welcome to the Zoo, was released on June 30, 2023. For this stop in Montpellier, expect a DIY, playful brand of hip-hop carried by characters who rap while remaining fully in view on stage.
