On March 11, 2026 at New Morning Paris, Rocé presents Palmier, his sixth studio album. Humanist rap with a soul vein, it pushes engaged songwriting further, carried by orchestral textures, jazz instruments and supple melodies. Natacha Atlas appears as a guest, a kinship that echoes the legacy of his father, the anti-colonial resistance figure Adolfo Kaminsky, and his early days alongside DJ Mehdi. On stage, Rocé performs as a trio: Nathalie Ahadji on saxophone and Juicy Fruit on the decks, for a soul-jazz set with a razor-sharp flow, somewhere between velvety softness and rhythmic precision.
Since the 1990s, Youcef Kaminsky has been rapping under the name Rocé. He released five albums between 2002 and 2023 and founded the independent label Hors Cadres to support his music and projects. He explores the memory of struggles: in 2017 he wrote the preface to the biography of Colette Magny; in 2018 he compiled Par les damné.e.s de la terre – des voix de lutte 1969-1988; in 2019 he co-wrote the series Saveur Bitume for Arte; his track “Habitus” was cited in a social sciences (SES) textbook published by Hachette; and in 2020 he co-edited Manu Key’s autobiography, Les Liens sacrés. With the exhibition Ce que les pochettes nous disent and a musical lecture dedicated to record archives, he continues this work of transmission. Palmier marks a new milestone.
