Les Wampas

Formed in 1983 around Didier Wampas, Les Wampas have navigated the post-punk years and the FM radio era while staying true to their course: direct riffs, no-nonsense choruses and lyrics that play with irony and tenderness. Fronted by Didier’s instantly recognizable voice, the band has released numerous albums and toured extensively, carving out a lasting place in the French rock landscape without renouncing their punk roots.

In 2022 they released Tempête, tempête, the follow-up to Sauvre le monde: their fourteenth album, which continues their approach—getting straight to the point, without frills, with songs that recount everyday life, bruised love and mild bursts of anger. On stage, Les Wampas blend recent tracks with the classics that built their reputation, delivering the energy of a tight-knit band in which bass and drums underpin cutting guitars and immediate backing vocals.

Les Wampas will be at Paloma in Nîmes on March 18, 2026 — an occasion to reconnect with this singular trajectory of French rock, between spontaneity, forthright melodies and a keen sense of the hook, just as they have defended it since their beginnings.
