Thibault Cauvin

Thibault Cauvin stops by La Comète Saint-Étienne on 3 April 2026 with a program that marks a new stage in his career: an album of original works, conceived for a tightly focused tour of selected venues. His classical guitar, at the heart of his playing, now opens up more to words and to forms that blur the boundaries between repertoires and eras, creating moments of sharing he cultivates with unassuming simplicity on stage. Behind this shift are meetings and stories that have accompanied him for twenty years, such as that interlude in Hong Kong with Wong, a taxi driver, which fed his desire to tell stories in a different way.

Winner of 36 international prizes and long regarded as a virtuoso of the classical guitar, Cauvin has since brought his sound to stages in 130 countries. His father’s rock legacy led him to perform for diverse audiences and to seek freer formats, multiplying collaborations, including a recent duo with -M-. This desire to break down barriers is expressed today in a multifaceted project, extended by the publication of his first novel, Alter Ego, which converses with the music and outlines a more personal chapter.
