From their first nights in Glasgow’s disused buildings, Franz Ferdinand have pursued the same obsession: writing sharp songs designed to make you move, without losing their taste for melody. The Scottish band sharpens that approach on The Human Fear, a new album that pushes the guitars and rhythms toward something more angular while retaining the ear for a chorus that has followed them since their beginnings. Between post‑punk tension and pop efficiency, their sound remains identifiable and free of nostalgia, focused on what comes next.
Franz Ferdinand are back on the road in spring 2026 and will play Le Transbordeur in Villeurbanne on 23 March 2026. In concert the band tightens up, alternating signature songs with recent material, and lets the rhythm section set the pace. Twenty years after their early breakthroughs, their repertoire is still recognizable and the way they deliver it on stage is direct and unadorned.
