ASM - A State of Mind

Formed in the early 2000s, ASM - A State of Mind brings together MCs FP and Green T and DJ/producer Fade in an international hip-hop trio spread across several European countries. After early EPs and mixtapes released on the independent circuit, ASM - A State of Mind established itself with English-language rap focused on writing, storytelling, and a highly rhythmic articulation of flows. Musically, the group develops a boom-bap aesthetic steeped in funk, soul, and jazz, with a marked taste for melodic arrangements and cinematic atmospheres. The 2010 album Platypus Funk cemented this formula by blending organic grooves, orchestral samples, and sung hooks. In 2015, the conceptual project The Jade Amulet pushed the narrative dimension further, built as a complete story where rap tracks, interludes, and characters intersect, illustrating ASM - A State of Mind’s interest in graphic worlds and pop culture. The trio regularly collaborates with the Marseille-based collective Chinese Man and performs on numerous stages across Europe, from clubs to festivals, while maintaining a steady pace of digital releases and collaborations within the independent hip-hop scene.
