Info
On October 6, 2027, Jean-Michel Jarre lands at the Gashouder in Amsterdam with OXYGENE & BEYOND, an evening that centers on fifty years of Oxygène and all that has sprung from it. Jarre has been a key figure in electronic music since the 1970s: not only with his layered synth lines and hypnotic, repetitive motifs, but also with a way of composing that is as much about sound exploration as it is about melody.
Expect long, cinematic pieces that unfold slowly, minimalist rhythmic sequences that keep pushing, and the characteristic floating atmosphere that makes Oxygène so recognizable. At the same time, Jarre looks beyond the classic, with references to his later work in which samples, danceable structures, and a more contemporary electronic sound come into play. In the Gashouder, this takes on extra weight: Jarre has been staging his shows as grand productions for decades, with imagery and light as an integral part of the music, not decoration.
