Info
On November 21, 2026, at Chalk in Brighton, The Undertones mark 50 years since they first got together in Derry and started turning basic rock and roll into sharp, melodic punk. This anniversary show is a chance to hear how their early rush of short, fast songs and pop hooks still lands today: simple riffs, tight formats, and lyrics rooted in teenage nerves, everyday life, and messy romance. From the DIY spark that led them to record Teenage Kicks in 1978 to the run of albums that followed, the band’s sound keeps that straight-to-the-point punch, sitting right at the crossroads of punk, garage, and power pop. With their later chapters leaning into more polished arrangements without losing the snap, expect a set that moves easily between classic urgency and the cleaner edge they’ve built over time.
Ruts DC join as special guests on November 21, 2026, at Chalk in Brighton, bringing the grit and momentum born from The Ruts’ original lineup. Formed in 1981 by the rhythm section and guitarist of The Ruts, the project carries forward that tough, street-level blend of punk drive and reggae-tinged tension, with a catalogue that traces back to tracks like Babylons Burning and Staring At The Rude Boys.
