Info
On February 2, 2027, at the Salle Pleyel, Erik Truffaz and Antonio Lizana come together around New Sketches of Spain, a free, contemporary reinterpretation of the Sketches of Spain heritage. Truffaz, a leading figure of electro-jazz trumpet, likes to push improvisation toward urban and electronic textures without losing the sense of melody. Facing him, Lizana brings that very personal blend of flamenco and jazz: the cante, the Andalusian inflections, the alto sax, and that way of telling the music as much as playing it.
The project plays with the tensions and bridges between Spanish traditions and contemporary writing, with a real attention to color and rhythm: bass clarinet and English horn, flamenco guitar, electric bass, drums and percussion, not to mention the flamenco dance that underscores the gesture. An evening conceived as a dialogue, between breath, groove and the memory of Spain.
