On June 3, 2027, Angélique Kidjo arrives at Casino Barrière Bordeaux for a concert that aptly embodies who she is: a voice that crosses borders without ever losing its West African grounding. Born in Ouidah and having lived in Paris and then New York, she has built a repertoire where Beninese polyrhythms meet Afro-pop, soul, Afro-Latin echoes, and a writing crafted for the stage.
In this live performance, one can expect a journey through her major periods, from songs that cemented her status in the 1990s to her more recent projects, nourished by choral arrangements and collaborations with a new generation of African artists. Kidjo sings in Fon, Yoruba, French, and English, and she plays with textures as well as with pulsations: the audience dances, responds, and swells in unison, with that unique ability to carry an entire venue along in just a few bars.
