On 18 August 2026, at EartH in London, Speakers Corner Quartet bring their South London chemistry to a one-off tribute to Arthur Russell, the visionary cellist, composer and songwriter whose genre-blurring catalog still ripples through contemporary music. Made up of flautist Biscuit, drummer Kwake Bass, violinist Raven Bush and bassist Peter Bennie, the collective leans into improvisation and a sense of live conversation, reshaping songs in the moment rather than preserving them under glass.
After years of collaboration and a reputation built on open-ended, emotionally direct performances, the quartet revisit Russell’s boundary-pushing spirit through their own orchestral, intimate lens. For this special set, they’re joined by guests Oscar Jerome, Coby Sey, Ade Egun Crispin (Balimaya Project), Sarah Tandy, Oscar Farrell and Murkage Dave, each adding their voice to the reworkings. Expect Russell’s melodies and ideas to be stretched, fragmented, and reassembled into something communal: part homage, part living reinterpretation.
