Soweto Gospel Choir - Pou Zot !

On 15 December 2026, Horizon Pyrénées in Muret welcomes the Soweto Gospel Choir with Pou Zot!. Born in Soweto in 2002, the choir brings together more than thirty voices and moves effortlessly between South African gospel, African-American spirituals, reggae and pop covers. Brought to prominence at the 46664 concert honoring Nelson Mandela, the ensemble has since toured extensively and appeared at major global events, from Live Earth to the 2010 FIFA World Cup final draw in Cape Town.

On stage, the Soweto Gospel Choir weaves tight harmonies and a call-and-response dynamic driven by choral energy that conveys both the fervor and the joy of singing. Their repertoire draws on albums such as Voices from Heaven, Blessed and African Spirit, as well as Freedom and Hope, and includes detours like History of House (2024), a project led with Latroit and Groove Terminator. Their trajectory is also audible in notable collaborations, from Peter Gabriel and Thomas Newman (Down to Earth for WALL‑E) to Christopher Tin (Baba Yetu), and even a cover of Valley of Tears for the tribute to Fats Domino. With Pou Zot!, Soweto’s roots engage in dialogue with global pop culture, balancing choral tradition and contemporary repertoire.
