An indie-folk singer from Portland, Alela Diane weaves songs at the crossroads of traditional folk and Americana. Her songwriting, nourished by the personal, explores the passage of time, home and motherhood. Written at dawn, her melodies are pared down to the essentials, carried by a soft, precise voice capable of creating hushed atmospheres without weighing them down. The arrangements, spare yet enveloping, open an almost cinematic space where guitars, piano and strings breathe. On stage, surrounded by musicians, she brings this material a more organic, communal dimension while preserving the delicacy at the heart of her world.
A singer-songwriter who divides his time between Paris and California, Elias Dris first emerged with Gold In The Ashes, recorded at 19, a collection of spare, forthright folk songs. With Beatnik Or Not To Be he broadened his scope, pushed his sonic exploration and affirmed an identity independent of passing trends. His new chapter, Pearl, conceived between Paris, Los Angeles and Fécamp, offers a raw yet poetic take on L.A., poised between a yearning for freedom, countercultural impulses and artistic doubt. On stage, he distills this clear songwriting, with guitars to the fore and his voice front and center, in a modern, direct folk vein.
