Echo & The Bunnymen

Echo & The Bunnymen head to Barrowland Ballroom, Glasgow, on 22 December 2026. Formed in late-70s Liverpool around Ian McCulloch and Will Sergeant, the band carved a path from post-punk to a cool blend of alternative rock, new wave and a darker psych hue. Early milestones Crocodiles and Heaven Up Here fixed the template: taut basslines, reverb-drenched guitars and a melodic tension that carries live. Porcupine and Ocean Rain widened the palette with more orchestral contours while keeping the stark edges in place, a thread the group has pulled through Evergreen and later releases.

On stage, the songs tend to move between restraint and surge, letting space and echo frame McCulloch’s baritone. The set roams across their catalogue, balancing the lean drive of the early years with the more reflective turns of the 90s and beyond. Textures and dynamics do the work: shimmering guitars, understated keys, a low-end pulse that keeps everything anchored. At Barrowland Ballroom, the arrangements stay close to the core of the tracks, favouring feel and structure over embellishment.
