Info
On 11 October 2027, Wet Wet Wet bring their 40 Years of ‘Popped In Souled Out’ celebration to the Princess Theatre in Torquay. Formed in Clydebank in the early 80s, the Scottish band fused sleek pop, soul inflections and lush ballads, and broke through with the 1987 debut they revisit here. A set built around the songs and spirit of that first record, extended with favourites from across the catalogue, relinks the group’s melodic DNA from The Memphis Sessions and Holding Back the River to Picture This and 10, then into their 2000s return. Now fronted by Kevin Simm since 2018, Wet Wet Wet continue to porter a harmony-led sound with rich arrangements and a clear vocal focus.
Support comes from The Christians. Born in Liverpool in 1985 around Garry Christian and his brothers, the group shaped a British soul-pop approach marked by close harmonies, gospel-tinged phrasing and early a cappella work. Their late-80s run, from the self-titled debut to Colour, provides a songbook that sits naturally alongside Wet Wet Wet’s era. The Christians open the night with melody-forward, groove-aware cuts carried by unison vocals.
