Tommy Emmanuel is coming to Bremen: on 29 April 2027 the Australian guitarist will perform at the Glocke. His acoustic fingerstyle playing combines basslines, chords, melody and percussive strikes into a single flowing whole. Raised on Australian country music, he has over the years expanded his sound to include jazz, pop, rock, blues and bluegrass. Live, he builds dense arcs of tension from clear grooves and calm themes, with the guitar taking on bass, harmony, melody and rhythm all at once. The influence of Chet Atkins can be heard repeatedly in walking bass lines and precise voicings. Between pieces from his solo albums and newer compositions, Emmanuel leaves room for improvisation and subtle nuances without ever losing sight of the song. Not big gestures, but a concentrated solo set that stays close to the audience and showcases the versatility of his playing.
