On 5 September 2026 at 3Arena, Dublin, The Waterboys bring the Fisherman’s Blues Revue to the stage. Led by Mike Scott since 1983, the band first carved out an expansive rock sound before rooting itself in Ireland with Steve Wickham’s fiddle and a taste for folk traditions. Fisherman’s Blues and Room to Roam opened that chapter with acoustic songs, reels and bluesy inflections, a blend the group has kept alive across changing lineups. Guitars, piano and fiddle lean into Celtic colours, lyrics drift from city streets to shorelines, and the band’s melodic pulse carries these songs with an easy swing.
Joining the revue, Steve Earle adds his songwriter’s grain and road-worn phrasing. Raised in Texas and shaped by Nashville and New York, he moves between country, folk, rock and bluegrass, from Copperhead Road to The Mountain. On stage with The Waterboys, his voice and guitar cut through reels and ballads with a dry drawl, bringing American roots into conversation with Irish folk. It’s a meeting of narrative songs, fiddles and harmonicas, played by musicians who know how to let a tune breathe and take off together.
