Info
Deep Purple bring their hard rock roots to Ottawa on August 19, 2026 at Canadian Tire Centre, with special guest Kansas. Formed in late-60s England, the band built a sound anchored by heavy guitar riffs, Hammond organ lines and a striking vocal presence. The Mark II lineup with Ritchie Blackmore, Ian Gillan, Ian Paice, Roger Glover and Jon Lord fixed the template on In Rock, Machine Head and Fireball, and left durable tracks like Smoke on the Water, Highway Star and Child in Time. Through lineup changes, Deep Purple have kept the engine running on stage and in the studio, carrying a catalog that marked several eras of rock.
Kansas open with a blend of progressive scope and direct rock energy. Born in Topeka in the early 70s, the group leaned on guitars, keyboards, layered vocals and a prominent violin to shape both long-form pieces and concise songs. Key milestones include the self-titled debut (1974), Song for America (1975), Leftoverture (1976) and Point of Know Return (1977), driven by the writing of Kerry Livgren, the voice of Steve Walsh and the contribution of Robby Steinhardt. The studio story continued with Somewhere to Elsewhere (2000), The Prelude Implicit (2016) and The Absence of Presence (2020).
