On September 27, 2026, at Les Étoiles in Paris, The Longest Johns drop anchor with their maritime folk, carried by tight harmonies and a true sense of chorus. Born around a kitchen table in Bristol in 2012, the band originally formed a cappella before expanding their sound to include minimalist acoustic arrangements, light percussion and guitars that support sea shanties and work songs. On stage they employ call-and-response, share refrains, and tales of the open sea take shape in crisp polyphonies, balancing tradition with contemporary nods.
Their repertoire sails between reworked classics and original pieces, from “Bones in the Ocean” to shanties handed down from port to port. Buoyed by constant live activity and regular releases, their audience widened in 2021 when their version of “Wellerman” circulated widely on TikTok, bringing sea shanties back into the public ear. In Paris they bring that collective energy and taste for storytelling through song, for a concert where the room becomes the chorus and you leave with salt on your vocal cords.
