Scala 30 - Scala et Kolcany

Scala & Kolacny Brothers celebrate their 30th anniversary and will present their all-female choir at Bobino on 16 November 2026. Founded in 1996 in Belgium, the project rests on Stijn Kolacny’s precise direction and the piano arrangements of his brother Steven. Their trademark: transforming rock, pop and indie songs into understated, enveloping choral pieces, driven by female harmonies and a piano that sets the frame. Think of their reinterpretations of Radiohead, Nirvana, Depeche Mode or U2, whose “Creep,” introduced to the wider public through The Social Network, opened the door to an international audience. Live, Scala deploys this blend of taut tenderness and restrained tension, playing on contrasts between full choral textures and silences, with a repertoire that is mostly anglophone, occasionally in French or German. At Bobino, the programme promises to be a journey through their signature arrangements and the pieces that have shaped their stage identity, balancing pop culture and choral writing in a format designed for the hall and for collective listening.
