The HU

The HU will come to TivoliVredenburg in Utrecht on 23 October 2026. The Mongolian band from Ulaanbaatar has been building since 2016 what they call “hunnu rock”: a crossover of rock and metal with throat singing and traditional Mongolian instruments, driven by heavy riffs and rhythms rooted in alternative metal. With the tracks Yuve Yuve Yu and Wolf Totem, The HU quickly drew international attention in 2018, followed by extensive tours across Asia, Europe and North America. The debut album The Gereg (2019) established their blend of guttural vocals, communal choral singing and melodic motifs evoking the steppe, while Rumble of Thunder (2022) further deepened the heavy side and firmly planted the band in the contemporary metal and hard rock scene. Along the way guest musicians such as Serj Tankian and Jacoby Shaddix joined their world. Live, The HU is about the friction between heritage and amplified energy: pulsing percussion, soaring group vocals, and melodies that glide over gritty grooves. Utrecht will get the full force of that hybrid sound.
