Julien Lourau is unfolding his Soul Shelter residency at La Petite Halle de la Villette. On 13 February 2026, the second installment of a series dedicated to the possibilities of live electronic music takes place. A saxophonist and a craftsman of the jazz/machines crossover, he leads a session conceived as a collective playground. At his side is a shifting line-up of musicians, singers and rappers gathered for creations crafted on the spot. On the sonic program: warm beats, synthetic textures, rounded basslines, loops that intertwine with the sax’s breath, and improvisations that steer jazz toward trance. Soul Shelter favors play and attentive listening, with long-form transitions, risk-taking and back-and-forths between club, groove and ambient. Lourau samples, triggers, orchestrates and reignites, while leaving the door open to the unexpected.
